Pagan Home School
Pagan Homeschooling in a Multi-Faith Household Today we live in a society were religion rules. What do I mean by that? I mean that all sorts of systems of beliefs, religions, and anti-religions found openly in the world, anything goes and no one is hiding it! Due to this fact, there are more and more families that find themselves with spouses of a different faith. This doesn't exclude families who choose to homeschool. Most people think that homeschooling families choose to homeschool because of their strong beliefs in a certain religion be it Catholic or Christian. This is true in some cases, but some families choose to homeschool for other reasons and find themselves with multi views on religions. For example, a pagan wife and a Christian husband? Where as before when the children attended school, it wasn't much of an issue, but now that the children are being homeschooled you have more of an opportunity to discuss and teach faith. So what do you do? How do you homeschool if you are a Pagan and your spouse is a Christian or even Jewish? It's easy. Well, okay, maybe its not so easy, but it can be done with a little thought and pre-planning. Take the positive approach and teach your children two different faiths which helps them learn that everyone doesn't think the same and how to have tolerance for others even when they are different or think differently. Many of the holidays have Pagan and Christian connections. Take some time to dig to the root of each religions holidays and use it as an educational experience. Use some of these "uncomfortable holidays" where the child doesn't know which way to celebrate, Pagan or Christian, to educate and teach. Take away the stress by giving your child background and details from each of the parent's views and let them come to their own conclusions. Use this opportunity to help to develop a child who can get along with others and has been raised to respect and be able to expect to encounter people in his/her lifetime that have different views. Your child will benefit from this and be able to get along with a larger number of people throughout the world!
