Seton Home School
Quick Facts About Seton Homeschooling
What is Seton Homeschooling? It's hard to keep up with all of the
"movements" associated with the ever-growing population of families who
are homeschooling their children. Some are associated with specific
religions, some are associated with non-religions, and some are just
there.
Seton Homeschooling is one of the types of homeschooling that is
associated with a religion. Seton Homeschooling is a very popular form
of Catholic Homeschooling that was developed by Dr. Anne Carroll. As is
similar with many types of homeschooling, Seton has its roots in a
physical school that was created to give parents an alternative to
public schooling. Furthermore, as is usually the case, this school
gains popularity and there are more and more families who want their
children to attend this school, so the school develops homeschooling
material. This is exactly what took place with Seton Homeschooling.
As you very well may know, private schools, such as Seton Junior
School, had extremely expensive tuition and the children were separated
from their families at a young age to live on the campus and attend the
school. As Seton began to gain popularity and their Catholic and
academic reputation increased, there were numerous requests from
parents who wanted their children to take classes by correspondence.
Seton began making the curriculum available and now today they enroll
about 10,000 students into their schools and several thousand more
through homeschooling students.
Seton believes that homeschoolers today are the leaders tomorrow and
offers Catholic curriculum for grades kindergarten through twelve.
Their curriculum places a high emphasis on developing the child's
Catholic faith as well as emphasizing works of Western Civilization.
